The primary function of this position is to liaise between customer and manufacturer
Important Key Performance Area’s (KPA’s)
Liaison with buyers/clients and manufacturers
Close interaction with customer to determine and anticipate forthcoming trends
To maintain a good working relationship with customers (buyers)
Communication between customer & manufacturers
Negotiate prices with customers
Seeking out new customers/opportunities
Gaining a fuller understanding of the customers wants and needs
Sourcing new trends to satisfy customer demands

Look at market research studies and analyse their findings
Follow up on sampling shipping & packing
Update on trend forecasts and product
Keeping up to date with trends by searching the internet and reading fashion magazines
Look at consumer preferences and predictions thereof
Ensure open communication for product briefings from customers
Sourcing new products & updates
Development of Data sheets for production
Ensure correct planning and costing
Ensure correct information is gathered from customer
Ensure costings are accurate
Check orders against customers briefs are correct
Negotiate pricing with customers
Be aware of current tariffs & duties
Ensure purchase orders are correct before being sent to suppliers
Oversee the delivery and distribution
Advise and ensure FOB dates are met by manufacturers
Inform necessary parties of date & time if delivery
Request delivery extensions from customer if necessary
Ensure correct packing instructions are received by Logistics Manager
Ensure monthly targets are met
Ensure deliveries are on time to avoid penalties or discounts
Oversee quality ensuring repeat business
Taking action to ensure no loss of profit occurs
Monitor production and logistics
Compile seasonal product and trend presentations
Minimum experience required for this position:
Experience of office work coupled with experience of working with a retail supplier. A good eye for product and an interest in fashion will be an advantage

For home fashion retail, an interest in home fashion trends is important

Good analytical and numerical skills
Trouble shooting: identifying problem areas and deciding what to do to solve the problem
Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
Systems Evaluation: Identifying measures or indicators of systems performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system
Salary package for the Key Accounts / Sales Merchandiser position will consist out of a basic + commision structure
