To collect blood and non-blood specimens for medical pathology analysis.

Requirements:
Grade 12
Certificate in Phlebotomy techniques
Registered with the HPCSA as a Medical technician in the category of Phlebotomy
Knowledge of the National Health Act
Knowledge of the HPCSA’s rules and regulations relating to Medical Technicians
Knowledge of the National Health Act
Knowledge of the HPCSA’s rules and regulations relating to Medical Technicians
Communication skills: Read, write and speak fluently in English.
Numerical reasoning skills: Perform basic numerical calculations (e.g. additions, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages).

Level 1 first aid training
1-2 years general working experience within a pathology laboratory.
Knowledge of the Meditech system
Basic knowledge of MS Excel
Basic knowledge of Google mail
Knowledge of the Meditech system
Computer skills
Basic knowledge of MS Word

Key Responsibilities:
Perform phlebotomy related administrative tasks to ensure correct recording and processing of information.
Manage money/cash flow of depot to facilitate collection of payments for phlebotomy services rendered.
Perform phlebotomy procedures in order to ensure sufficient delivery of nursing services.
Perform safety tasks to ensure safety standards are upheld.
Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath.
