PURPOSE: • To deliver expert technical support in engineering discipline in projects and to contribute effectively to development of the Group’s business growth and operations



MAJOR CHALLENGES: • Ensure that written reports are produced and delivered to client in accordance with Group standards • Ensure that latest legislative/Company requirements are adhered to with specific reference to engineering designs • Recoverable hours across projects • Oversee the execution of fit for purpose engineering design • Implementation of design philosophy

• Protection of Intellectual property

• Create and manage professional networks

• Participate in engineering forums, tertiary educational relationships, professional external forums, relevant Communities of Practice (CoP's) and in any innovation processes



Budget and Cost Control

• Manage cost recovery

• Design for efficiency

• Manage own expenditure

• Manage project capital budget



Business Performance and Operations

• Support service delivery within department and project budget parameters

• Technical contribution in individual skill area based on sound principles

• Increase awareness of tech advancements to ensure access to appropriate technology to meet business deliverables and can expand technical base to access new areas of business

• Ensure design for reliability and maintainability

• Adhere to appropriate quality management systems

• Ensure skills and technology communication to business units

• Provide expert technical support and direction to project teams and business units

• Identify needs and support line management with technical issues

• Adhere to functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end- to-end processes, tools, templates etc.

• Assist in standardising, simplifying and speeding-up functional processes, eliminating duplication/bureaucracy.

• Apply functional best practices, promote sharing of best practices/knowledge.

• Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) policies and procedures in line with set standards

• Support the execution of discipline and project strategy

Candidate Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:



· BEng Electrical (Essential/Minimum or)

· BTech Electrical (Essential/Minimum)

· Gov Cert of Competence: Engineering (Recommended/Desirable)

· Certificate Project Management (Recommended/Desirable)

· Management Development Programme (Recommended/Desirable)



EXPERIENCE:

6-8 years Maintenance, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Procurement, Project Engineering, Contract and Project Management

Importance : Essential/Minimum

Involvement : Operational



REQUIREMENTS:

· Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)

· Engineering Council of SA (Essential/Minimum)

· Professional Engineer (Essential/Minimum)

· Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
