Continue to APPLY!Our client based in Johannesburg is looking for a Senior Horticulturist to participate in the identification, modification and initiation of present and future strategies for parks and open space development and maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Regional Manager, assist in the formulation of objectives, policies and procedures in Parks and open space management.
Efficient and effective parks and open space management services according to the CoJ and City Parks’ policies
Collaborate with the Project Management unit; manage capital and development projects and maintenance work.
Drafting of various reports on matters pertaining to the provision and maintenance of parks and open space facilities for submission.
Conduct research and investigate future practices for parks and open space management.
Drawing up specifications relevant to specific projects for contract purposes.
Assist the Regional Manager in the development and implementation of information systems.
Liaise with professional institutions, key stakeholders, relevant committees and interested groups on matters pertaining to parks and open space management functions
Manage all assets by maintaining the asset register, maintaining quality standards
Procurement of assets
Management of park infrastructure
Implementation of marketing programmes
Determine, coordinate and control the effective utilization of staff
Initiate management and technical training programmes to develop Human Resources
Develop, maintain and monitor the financial budget of parks and open spaces in area of responsibility.
Implement, monitor and control effective and efficient financial management procedures in the receipt and allocation of funds
Ensure the provision and safe use of all tools, machinery, plant and equipment according to OHSA.
Coordinate the implementation, maintenance and management of parks
Actively participate in the planning, development and maintenance of adequate parks and open spaces facilities and development projects and maintenance work
Meeting service delivery requirements, contracts management and as well as asset control and management.
Desired Experience & Qualification
National Diploma in Horticulture
B-tech in Horticulture added advantage
3-5 years of experience in a municipal environment
Computer Literacy
Good communications skills (written and verbal)
Report writing skills
Horticultural mechanization knowledge
Recreation Facilities Management
Financial Management: Operational Budget Control and Application
