Kendrick Recruitment is now seeking a Travel Consultant for an established Travel Company offering bespoke packages to clients specialising in Africa. This position is an office based role location in Fourways, Gauteng. This position is a full day, permanent role, office based: 8am – 4.30pm, with overtime as required by the nature of the role, you will also be required to cover 1 weekend per month on the company emergency line.

Within this role you will work as an Inbound Travel Consultant for a Specialist Photographic and Travel business. The ideal candidate will be required to deliver their work in a professional, methodical and detailed manner. They should be able to work under pressure at times either independently or as a team player, as well as have the ability to adapt and persevere when obstacles or challenges are presented.

Responsibilities:
Interaction with agents and other operators or suppliers, telephonically and via email.
Planning and designing itineraries for guests.
Handling reservation requests from either e-mail, telephone, or website enquiries.
Processing of reservations from quote to finalized itinerary, and continuation of overseeing the itinerary whilst the guest is travelling.
Creating and sharing the digital itineraries for confirmed trips using a platform called Vamoos.
Advising clients about passports, visa requirments, foreign exchange, travel insurance, transfers, accommodation, and optional excursions
Tending to client’s bookings including pre-seating, dietary requirements, and special occasions
Selling of company products and services.
Interaction with colleagues and consolidation of overlapped itineraries.
Efficient turnaround time on all enquiries from time of receiving the enquiry, maximum of 48 hours turnaround (dependent on supplier communication)
Backup for colleagues when they are away from the office.
Expanding product knowledge through attending supplier training sessions, and enquiring with suppliers and negotiating STO rates and details.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Good knowledge of geography, destination, and product knowledge. Africa centric, Southern and East Africa specific.
Good knowledge of FIT and Groups policies and procedures.
Good knowledge of rates structures
Experience at putting custom tours together with guests as the primary contact.
Working experience in tour operating and general reservations procedures.
High and ethical work standard
Good organisational ability
Lateral thinking ability
Initiative
Sales focused with experience of working in a target driven environment
Own transportation and driver's license
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, predominantly English (this is our clientele basis)
Passionate about travel and people
Computer literate with Microsoft office knowledge

Position works on a basic + commission. Basic salary on offer will be between 12 – 16k and commission is worked out per booking completed and paid.
