Import Controller - Sea Freight

Introduction
A well-established Freight / Logistics Company based in Durban is looking for an Import Controller – Sea Freight

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12
Tertiary an advantage
Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in Import Sea Freight operational
Forwarding experience added advantage
Computer Experience

Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
Compu-clear experience
Cargowise experience

Responsibilities

Take full ownership of communication with customers nominated to business unit
Performance Management

Ensures up to date job descriptions are in place, and that team members are aware of their responsibilities
Conducts performance reviews with each team member twice a year
Workload Allocation

Ensures workload is appropriately allocated to the team
Service Delivery

Manages customer delivery planning
Manages quality checks before Customs framing
Manages the requests for clearing documentation
Manages all Customs stops
Manages follow-ups for Original Bills of Lading
Ensures invoices and supporting documents are quality checked before being sent to
Customers

Query Resolution

Attends to all customers queries and provides resolution/feedback as required
Relationship Management
Provides customers with timeous feedback on shipment progress and planned delivery date
Ensures customer receive specific status reports when requested
Support Key Account Manager with any customer related information and queries
Conduct regular customer service telephone calls
Costings

Invoicing

Completes invoice control sheet
Ensures charges outlaid are correct and billed
Checks for potential demurrage and storage charges
Notify customers of supplementary invoices and minimize the number of supplementary invoices
Credit Notes

Manage and control
Write offs

Manage and control
Service level agreements
Rate management
Training and development of team
